Why Alphex runs out of stock
What sold out means here, why we accept running out rather than drop-shipping, how long the batch pipeline takes, and how notifications work.
Alphex product pages sometimes show a size as sold out, and researchers occasionally ask why a supplier would let that happen when competitors seem never to run out. The answer is that we list a size only when verified vials are physically in the UK freezer, and a batch has to be synthesised, purified, vialled and independently tested before it can be listed. That takes time, and it means stock is finite. This note explains why we work that way, what "sold out" does and does not mean, and how the back-in-stock notification works. All Alphex products are for laboratory and in-vitro research only.
What "sold out" means here
- The last verified vials of that size have shipped.
- The next batch is somewhere in the pipeline: synthesis, purification, vialling, independent testing, or in transit to UK stock.
- It does not mean we will take your order and ship it later from somewhere else. There is no back-order queue and no drop-shipping fallback.
- Other sizes of the same compound may still be available; they are the same batch or a different verified batch, both certified.
Why we accept running out
The alternative to running out is one of: listing stock we do not hold and forwarding orders abroad; holding very large batches for a long time and issuing an old certificate; or lowering the specification so more batches pass. Why the pipeline takes as long as it does
- Synthesis and purification to 99+%: days to weeks depending on the compound; longest for GLP-3 (RT).
- Vialling and lyophilisation in the sizes we sell.
- Independent testing: HPLC and MS at the laboratory, certificate issued. A batch that fails is not listed. See what happens when a batch fails.
- Transit to UK stock and receipt checks.
We start the next batch before the current one runs out, but demand for some compounds and sizes moves faster than the pipeline, and we would rather show sold out than ship untested material.
The back-in-stock notification
On a sold-out size, enter your email in the notify box. When the next verified batch is vialled and listed, you receive one email. It is a one-off notification for that product and size, not a marketing list; your address is used for nothing else. If you need a compound for a fixed date, contact us and we will tell you honestly where the batch is in the pipeline.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reserve stock from the next batch?
For institutional or repeat purchasers, contact us; we can hold a quantity from an incoming batch once it has passed testing. See bulk and repeat orders.
Will the new batch be different?
Same specification, new batch number, new certificate. If your project depends on a single batch, buy the requirement together and aliquot. See vial sizes and batch consistency.
Why is one size sold out and another not?
Because a batch is vialled into a fixed number of each size and they sell at different rates.
