Research Use Disclosures.
What Alphex supplies, what it is not, what our testing does and does not establish, and the conditions every purchaser accepts at checkout.
1. These products are not medicines
None of the compounds listed on this site holds a marketing authorisation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, and none is authorised as a medicinal product anywhere in the United Kingdom. They are unlicensed substances supplied as chemical reagents.
Alphex does not present these products as having any medicinal property, and does not supply them for any purpose that would bring them within the Human Medicines Regulations 2012. We publish no dosing information, no administration protocols, no reconstitution instructions framed for a person or an animal, and no claim about an effect in a person or an animal. Where our research notes discuss published literature, they do so as scientific background and not as instruction.
If you intend to acquire any product for administration to a person or an animal, do not order. We will refuse and cancel the order.
2. Who may purchase
By placing an order you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 years old;
- you are a qualified researcher, or are ordering on behalf of a research institution, laboratory or business, and you have the training and facilities to handle laboratory chemicals safely;
- the materials will be used exclusively for legitimate in-vitro research and will not be administered to any person or animal;
- you will not resell, repackage, relabel or redistribute the materials for any consumption or therapeutic purpose;
- the purchase and possession of the materials is lawful in the destination country.
This confirmation is recorded at checkout. Alphex may verify age, identity, professional affiliation, delivery address and intended use, and may refuse, hold or cancel any order pending verification. Where an order is cancelled on these grounds and payment has been taken, we refund it in full.
3. What our testing establishes, and what it does not
Alphex publishes the certificate of analysis for the batch you receive in a public COA library, keyed to the batch code printed on the vial. We state plainly what those certificates cover.
What the certificates test. Chromatographic purity by HPLC with UV/VIS detection, and the quantity of material measured on the same run. Purity is reported as the certificate reports it, including its stated measurement uncertainty, and we do not round or restate a laboratory result.
What the certificates do not test. No certificate in our library reports mass spectrometry, net peptide content, water content, residual solvents, heavy metals, endotoxin or microbial content. Sterility is reported only on bacteriostatic water. There is no expiry date or retest date on any certificate, only the date the result was reported.
Accreditation. Our testing laboratory holds ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from A2LA. HPLC-UV/VIS peptide purity is not within that inspected scope, so the purity results we publish are not represented as accredited-scope tests. We name the laboratory so you can make that assessment yourself.
Sampling. Each certificate carries the laboratory's own limitation: the laboratory did not observe sample selection and cannot confirm the authenticity of the sample or that it is representative of the lot. We repeat that limitation rather than bury it.
Where a product has no certificate for its current batch, its page carries no purity figure and reads "Certificate pending". A purity figure is never published for an untested batch.
4. Product form, grade and sterility
Products are supplied as lyophilised solids in sealed vials unless the listing states otherwise. They are not manufactured to pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice, are not supplied sterile, are not pyrogen tested or endotoxin tested, and are not suitable for any application requiring pharmaceutical or clinical grade material. Bacteriostatic water is supplied as a laboratory solvent for reconstituting reagents in vitro and is not supplied for any other purpose.
Storage conditions stated on a product page relate to preserving the material for research work. They are not a representation of fitness for any other use.
5. Safety, handling and disposal
You are responsible for ensuring that these materials are handled only by suitably qualified personnel, with appropriate personal protective equipment, containment, storage and disposal, in accordance with GHS and CLP requirements and the local rules that apply at your site. Certificates of analysis are published for every current batch and safety data is available on request.
Treat every compound as a substance of unknown hazard. The absence of a hazard classification on a listing does not mean a compound is safe to handle without precautions.
6. Export, sanctions and destination restrictions
Orders may be screened against sanctions and restricted party lists, including UK HM Treasury, EU and OFAC lists. We do not supply to embargoed destinations, debarred parties or for prohibited end uses. You must not export or re-export any product in breach of export control or sanctions law.
For international orders you are the importer of record and are responsible for customs clearance, duties, taxes and for confirming that import is lawful in the destination country. Import restrictions on research chemicals vary widely, and a shipment detained or seized by customs or a regulator is dealt with under our Returns and Refunds Policy.
7. Your responsibilities, and the limits of ours
Alphex is responsible for the identity and purity of the material against the certificate published for its batch. That is the representation we make and the one we stand behind under the purity guarantee in our Returns and Refunds Policy.
Alphex is not responsible for the use you put the material to, for the design or interpretation of your work, or for any consequence of using a research reagent outside research. You agree to indemnify Alphex against claims arising from your use, storage, onward supply or disposal of the material in breach of these disclosures.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected. See our Terms and Conditions.
8. Information on this site is not advice
Research notes, compound guides and technical specifications on alphex.co.uk are published as scientific and procurement background for researchers. They are not medical advice, not legal advice, and not a recommendation to use any compound for any purpose. Institutions should take their own advice on their specific circumstances.
9. Raising a concern
If you believe any page on this site describes a product in a way that implies human or veterinary use, or overstates what a certificate supports, tell us and we will correct it. Email lewis@alphex.co.uk.
