The Alphex purity guarantee and refunds, explained
What is guaranteed, how a purity claim works step by step, what is not covered, and how damaged or compromised vials are handled.
A purity guarantee is only worth what its mechanics allow. Alphex's is straightforward: if a batch you receive tests below the purity stated on its Certificate of Analysis in your own independent analysis, we replace it or refund it. This note explains exactly how that works, what it covers, what it does not, and why the batch number is what makes it enforceable. It also covers replacements for damaged or compromised vials, which are handled separately and more simply. All Alphex products are for laboratory and in-vitro research only.
What is guaranteed
That the material shipped meets the specification on its batch COA: 99+% purity by reverse-phase HPLC at 220 nm against a reference standard, and identity by ESI-MS within 1 Da of theoretical mass. The guarantee is against the certificate for the batch you received, identified by the batch number on the vial.
How a purity claim works
- You test the material, or have it tested by a laboratory of your choice, by HPLC at 220 nm (and MS if identity is in question), and the result is below the certificate figure.
- You contact us with the order number, the batch number from the vial, and the analytical report: chromatogram, method conditions, laboratory.
- We compare against the batch's own testing and, where useful, have the independent laboratory re-run a retained sample of the batch.
- If the material is out of specification, we replace the vials from a different batch or refund the order, your choice, and we withdraw the batch. If our retest and yours disagree, we talk it through; method differences (see HPLC versus UHPLC) explain small discrepancies and we look at the traces together.
A claim needs a batch number and a chromatogram. Without the batch number there is nothing to compare against; without the trace there is a number, not a measurement. See why batch matching matters and how to read a chromatogram.
What it does not cover
- Degradation after receipt from storage or handling outside the guidance (reconstituted stocks left at room temperature, repeated freeze-thaw, vials stored open). See storage and reconstitution.
- Net peptide content or water content, which are not on the certificate. The guarantee is against what is certified. See net peptide content.
- Assay outcomes. We guarantee the material's identity and purity, not what it does in a particular experiment.
- Material bought elsewhere.
Damaged, missing or compromised vials
Simpler: contact us with the order number, batch number and a photo if useful, and we replace from stock. This covers broken glass, missing items, and vials that arrive with the vacuum lost or the seal disturbed. Check on arrival as described in how Alphex packs and ships.
Returns of unopened stock
Because the material is a research reagent whose storage history we cannot verify once it has left our freezer, we do not resell returned stock and do not accept returns for change of mind. Errors on our part (wrong item, wrong size) are corrected at our cost.
Why we can offer this
Every batch is independently tested before it is listed, every vial carries the batch number, and we retain samples. A supplier without those three things cannot offer a purity guarantee that means anything, whatever their page says. See how Alphex tests every batch and supplier red flags.
