Alphex testing partner independence

"Independently tested" is worth exactly as much as the independence behind it. This note explains what independence means in the Alphex arrangement: who tests the material, what stake they have in the result, what they receive, what they issue, and how a purchaser can check any of it. All Alphex products are for laboratory and in-vitro research only.

The arrangement

• Alphex specifies the compound, the sequence and the acceptance criteria (99+% area purity by RP-HPLC at 220 nm against a reference standard).
• A synthesis partner produces and vials the batch.
• A sample of that batch goes to an analytical laboratory that is not the manufacturer, is not owned by or affiliated with Alphex, and does not sell peptides. It runs its own methods against its own qualified reference standard.
• The laboratory issues a certificate in its own name, with a report reference, the batch number, the chromatogram, the spectrum and the results.
• Alphex lists the batch only if it passes. A failing batch is not sold. See what happens when a batch fails.

Why each part matters

• Not the manufacturer. The party that loses a batch if it fails should not be the party grading it. See third-party versus in-house testing.
• Not affiliated with the seller. The same logic applies to us.
• Does not sell peptides. An analytical laboratory with no position in the market has no reason to be generous or harsh to any particular material.
• Its own reference standard. A standard qualified independently of the batches being tested avoids circularity. See reference standard versus CRM.
• Named on the certificate. Independence you cannot verify is a claim. The laboratory's name and report reference are on every Alphex COA.

How to check it

1. Request the certificate for the batch in stock before ordering. See how to request a COA.
2. Read the laboratory's name and report reference from the certificate.
3. Contact the laboratory directly, using contact details you find yourself, quoting the reference and batch number. We authorise them to confirm that the report was issued for that batch. See how to verify a COA with the lab.
4. Or test the material yourself. If your analysis disagrees with the certificate, the purity guarantee applies and we investigate with the laboratory.

What manufacturer QC is used for

The synthesis partner runs its own QC before shipping to us, and we look at it. It is a first filter, not the certificate: it catches gross failures early and gives a consistency check against the independent result. What we do not do is present manufacturer QC as independent testing, which is the commonest form of "third-party tested" in this market.

Limits, stated plainly

• The certificate covers purity and identity. It does not cover endotoxin, water content or net peptide content, and we do not claim it does. See endotoxin and water content.
